I started a bunch of projects but I only inished one. The wreath was plain and spray painted red. Is to be covered in shells. The birdhouse feeder was just plain, so I painted it. That’s finished. The skulls will be given a 3rd coat of white befor I decorate them in the sprit of Día de los Muertos. To be continued.

“Eat Me / Drink Me”

This week’s submission builds upon last week’s Mad Tea Party Tiered Serving Tray, with the addition of Wonderland-themed stuffed mushroom caps and a “Drink Me” bottle of homemade Sangria, all of which I made for Mike & Robyn Piper’s annual anniversary party.

Sangria bottle w/ tiny key charm & "Drink Me" tag

Homemade Sangria w/ strawberries, blueberries, blackberries & lemon

The “Eat Me” and “Drink Me” tags were printed on plain paper using a typewriter font in Photoshop and hand transferred onto gift tags with a sharpie, after which I brushed the tags with strong coffee to give them a weathered/distressed look.

`One side will make you grow taller, and the other side will make you grow shorter.'

Baby bella and button mushrooms stuffed with spinach, mushrooms, garlic and vegan "cream cheese", topped with a pepperjack vegan "cheese".

Week 24's Mad Tea Party Serving Tray w/ finger food

It was fun filling the tray out with food once we arrived at the party– it felt a bit like setting up a culinary art installation.  Later in the evening, the tray was raffled off as a door prize.

Maki w/ avacado, carrot and cucumber

I hand stitched this stuffed animal for my nieces from a re-purposed argyle sweater. I drew a vague animal shape on the sweater with a Sharpie, cut out the pieces from the front and back, and stitched it together first using clear nylon fishing line, then overstitched with black yarn in a blanket stitch to finish it off. The features were also embroidered from black yarn as well.

Today's Fresh Leaf Art

Fall When I Am Walking

At the abrupt brick

Corner of each season,

I am again startled

By your absence.

When the birds have raped

Each sunflower of her seeds

As she attempts to twist toward the sun,

The giant, droopy flower

Heads bow, echoing

Me without.

The Koi, is a majestic fish – fish in general symbolism emotion, dream space, and the mystic world simply by living in the water. I have also taken note that if you loose your gaze in the water they speak to you of truths, they can transform you into a state of grace, and clarity where all seems easy – all seems possible. Today I draw on the strength of the Koi, and I create poetry in their honor, and 2 pictures – oil pastel on  paper.

Shimmering koi

my dreams escalate with the ripples of the water

the scales transform to coins

with the off gaze of my eyes

twinkling in rapture

captivate me and Im

soaring through time space and falling

into the bottom of a spiraling portal

like alice through the looking glass

my passage the enchanted back scales of the koi

glistening like crystals in the sun they mezmorize

and I see my dreams unfold

between the dawn, and twilight, the shimmering gold

mimics my hearts desire

and suddenly – in this mystic watery world

everything seems possible

My Boy

Submitted by: tonysmommy
Author: Amanda Rodriguez
When I learned that you were coming I was sure that you would be,
the most wonderful and precious child that I would ever see.
I was fearful, but excited, I was anxious, but prepared,
to hold you in my arms and show you just how much I cared.
And when the day finally came, my heart was filled with joy,
to see that you were made for me, my perfect little boy.
Now as the years are passing, you surprise me everyday,
by showing me that I can love you in so many different ways.
