Been practicing with my tablet some more.  As part of my practice I’ve been going back and forth with one of my online friends and we’ve been doing “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” versions of “Homestuck” characters.  If you are unfamiliar with either one or both of those fandoms, that’s fine.  I am having fun, 🙂

Matrix-Style Ubuntu Desktop Wallpaper

A desktop wallpaper for Ubuntu, one of my favorite Linux distributions.  I made the Matrix falling text in Photoshop using real code.

resolution: 1800x1200

resolution: 1366x768

resolution: 1280x800

In use on my Compaq Presario laptop, dual-booting Ubuntu and Crunchbang Linux. I've skinned Gnome to closely resemble OS X with a fully functional dock and dashboard.

Untitled Adolescent Novel

Chapter 3

“There’s something mysterious about that family,” said Bobby as she and Sherry talked on the phone later that night.

“Your just over imaginative,” laughed Sherry. “Ever since all the excitement this summer, you just are too serious.”

“You have to admit since the Deathhawks have been gone, it’s been pretty boring.”

“You can say that again!”

“You have to admit since -”

“Ha! Ha! Very funny.”

“I thought so.”

“I was being sarcastic. That’s about the oldest joke in the book.”

“While, as I was saying, that girl, the oldest one, ah, Cordelia, she was all bruised up with a broken arm.”

“So,” said Sherry.

“I think she’s abused.”

“Just because she has a few bruises, doesn’t mean she’s abused. She could have fallen down some stairs or something.”

“But she sure acted strangely. Don’t you think?”

“No. She’s just shy.”

“Where has your sense of adventure gone?”

“You’re just being silly. Now, stop it.”

“Well, maybe, but I just don’t know.”

“See you tomorrow morning.”

“Okay. Bye, Sherry.”

“Bye.”

Bobby hung up the phone and rolled around on her back. She knew something was wrong.

“Good morning,” said Barbara as Julie opened the door and let her in.

“Sherry will be down in a minute. Then we can leave.” said Julie as she put her freshly made bagged lunch into her blue knapsack. Julie was Sherry’s younger sister, but only by one year.

“Where is Billy today?”

“He says he has a headache. But you know the real reason he stayed home is that Brooke Shields is going to be on The Merv Griffin Show today.”

“That little brother of yours is a pervert,” said Julie. “The only thing he thinks about is girls.”

“You said it. You know that woman across the street?”

“You mean the one with the big, ah, boobs?”

“Yea, the one who doesn’t pull up her shades when she changes. My mom caught my brother watching her through the window. Boy, did he get hell for that.”

“Good. Ah, there you are at last, Sherry. We’re going to be late again. C’mon.”

Happy New Year- Poetry- Happy – Happy – Love- Love

Its in her Purr

Kitty wakes up and brushes aside streamers and tassles

She blinks themoondust out of her eyes

She brushes her hair and sparkles fly

Noise streamers release into the day hailing

The magic of the night

Streaming into the morning

She blinks – the images soften

Her heart melts too and she serves it up

In a book, on her chest, as words to friends, songs she sings, and sometimes careless whispers

As everything about everything the magic folds in and out of her doing

She purrs, stretches her long paws

And laps up the cream in her bowl

Grateful for the decadence, grateful for the road

Grateful for the gray cat the purrs eloquently

And watches kitty from a fence post, through her window

Happy New Year she signals by dipping a paw into her breakfast

And savoring it

Happy new year she says to him though wordless

She loves him, you can feel it in her purr.

Town Docks Sunrise 12.22.11

It’s been quite busy this past month- happy New Year to everyone- and I haven’t had the time to draw or paint. In the middle of a move & the holidays I haven’t had much time for art. However, I was driving to work and as I was about to keep going on my way, I saw the sunlight beaming through the thick  clouds… I had to stop. It’s been a while since I’ve last took a photo of this wonderful place and as you can see by the date the photo was taken 12.22.11, this was taken right in the middle of my crazy life!

As I have photographed this location many times before, every photo is uniquely different and never exactly the same. However, because I have so many of these shots, I now must add the date to the title name!

Cheers to new beginnings and a prosperous 2012!

Week 40 – Brian Weeks

Posted: December 30, 2011 in Brian Weeks, Week 40

I am currently packing to move (just half a mile away to a really nice apartment complex) and in going through my things, I found an unfinished work of art I started around this time in 1995. I graduated high school in 1995, along with a couple of our fellow Geekz. While this was hardly my “favorite year” (That would be 1987 – long, involved story) there was so much that I felt needed to be documented, that I started doodling some of the private jokes, big events, and other such nonsense onto a large piece of melamine board. I penciled it in, and filled in a couple of areas in colored pencil.

Sixteen years later, I have finished the project. I re-outlined everything using black Sharpie marker, and then colored it all in using my vast array of colored Sharpies.

It’s pretty humorous to me now what I felt was important sixteen years ago, at the ripe old age of 18. Will I hang this up in the new place? Hell no. It’s going to storage, but I won’t get rid of it. This is a part of my history – now completed.
