Norman Bowker Carried a Diary

Fan Fiction for Tim O’Brien’s The Things They Carried

“What will I do without you?” Lilly cried as she stood over Norman and watched him pull on his second, brightly polished combat boot. “How can I -”

“Shh.” He looked up at her and let go of his laces and reached a hand up to rest on her expanded belly. “You’ll be fine. You have your mother and mine to wait with you while I’m gone. And, hey, you won’t have to worry about making me dinner for a while.”

“I don’t mind that.”

“I know. But, I may be home soon. Hear this thing will end soon. The chances are good, right?”

“Right. Maybe it will end before you actually even leave basic.”

“Maybe.”

“I just wish you could be here when he, or she, comes. So, He’ll know his papa right from the start.”

“Me, too, baby. Me too.”

Pomegranate half…

I so lurve Halloween!

We Saw

Well since you all know my art is my life – my life and the beauty of everyone in it created today’s submission. Waking from a night of fabulous moon-ness – I took a look around at the things that waited there for me , I saw these things as not a mess, but a present, a sure sign of presence in my life and of the million ways it is showing up for me

And since I wasn’t able to snap any shots last night, and since everyone snaps shots of the party happening anyway, I thought it would be fun to make an art project of the aftermath of the party, that if you look at the trinkets and such tell a story all their own about the times, the peoples, the magic

and then if you really get silly and think about things being super fun, perhaps the party was having a party all of its own while watching us … who knows 🙂 But it does make for an interesting perspective for a picture and a fun little story of characters

Alter of The Moon Goddess – sworn to silence after circle – you want get a word out of us- hmmph

Yes, there was hooping – we Saw Everything – we’ll tell it all have a seat, grab a drink, make yourself comfortable

Tehehehe- ohh why yesss, there were pretty people present tehehehe we were there

Guests In the Window

We Saw You

We Might Have yes.. perhaps we did … and then we danced in the fountain i do believe..yes

“ehhhhh we didnt see anything man we were just like laid back maxin and relaxin you know -uhhhh is that marble cake I see in your hand there?”

Very “Special” Brownies for very special Friends…

Infused w/ Love – thc- and Slathered with Dolce De Leche… Dreamy Moon Cakes Baby

The End , yes it was sizzlin and we’d do it again

the point is that its completely over the top and stereo typical – much love

Roleplay sketches of one of my only non-magic-using characters, Archie.  He’s a red-headed librarian who breeds strange dragon-snakes and has a drinking problem all figured out.  He also stutters a lot but seems to know what he’s doing.

“Religious Experience on the Dance Floor”

A few weeks back, I had a whirlwind visit from one of my oldest and dearest friends. We spent a good portion of the weekend reminiscing and catching up, having not seen each other in 9 years. I knew that we’d be going for a drive back to our hometown to revisit our old haunts, and see what’s changed since we were kids.

When we were teenagers, I used to be the designated DJ in the car (not having a driver’s license) and I was forever making custom mixes for the car, customized to the trip on which we’d be embarking.  I had boxes and boxes of old cassettes, skeletons of years gone by.

I created this CD for the occasion – another continuous mix, this one featuring the club thumpers from the weekend nights we’d spend at the teen clubs of the era: Crack-R-Jax in Belmont, Club DC in Laconia, and Club 21 in Gilford. All of these nasty little “dance clubs” are long gone, but the music remains.

My first trip to a ‘real’ dance club was in October 1991 (wow. 20 years ago. O.o ). The whole crew was at Jenn’s house getting ready, trying to transform ourselves from awkward 14-year-old high school freshmen into mature clubgoers. It was an important night in my adolescence so I remember a lot of details. To set the scene and provide fodder for ridicule, I will share my (then) trendy attire for the evening…

I had just visited the barber shop that morning and had fresh stripes shaved into the side of my head, a la Vanilla Ice.  I was wearing a green and yellow Gold’s Gym t-shirt and a pair of mustard yellow tapered Levi’s 501’s with brand new black and white Adidas Samba sneakers. (I swear this was a cool outfit at some point that weekend.)

Anyway, it was that night that I had my first Religious Experience on the Dance Floor. I heard “Finally” by CeCe Peniston for the first time, and I was instantly a newly converted club kid. I’d have many more life changing moments courtesy of club music, but that was my first, and was my inspiration for the title of the compilation.

As with the last CD I made for an art submission, if any fellow Geekz would like a copy of the CD, just let me know and I’ll be happy to oblige…

“Hulk Smash!” — Widescreen Desktop Wallpaper (1920 x 1200)

Another desktop wallpaper created with Daz Studio 4 & Photoshop CS5.  I am definitely becoming much more comfortable with 3D rendering.  This week, I have posted screenshots to show some of the steps involved in the process from blank model to comic hero wallpaper.

"The Freak" - the base figure I used to build the Hulk - with no color or textures applied

After applying the "HD Comic Hero" morph injection, hairstyle and "Monster Pants", it's beginning to look a bit more like the big green meanie!

Body texture map & dynamic pose applied... almost there!

Postwork in Photoshop CS5: I zoomed/rotated the Hulk figure in Daz studio to create a portrait image that will be the base for the backdrop
