We visited this place when we were in AZ, and there we met “Desert Little Bear”, who told us so much about his tribes– the Yaqui and the Apache. It was fascinating, and one of the best moments of our trip. I had hoped to meet someone on our vacation who could enlighten us about the history and culture of the Native people in the region– someone who knew the culture firsthand– but felt uncomfortable seeking someone out on a reservation. It seemed disrespectful just to “invade” someone’s home simply to satisfy my curiosity. As luck would have it the universe provided Bear, and we couldn’t have asked for a better teacher! He is also an artist, and he and Mike discussed their common interest quite a bit during our conversation as well. You can see his work at http://www.RockArtCreations.com.
