“Flower Sticks: Part 2”

Here is the second, heavier set of juggling sticks (as I mentioned in my week 4 post).  These are again made with wooden dowels & inner tube, but this time around I was able to try out some red, white & blue self-fusing vinyl tape.  This allowed me to make a very grippy set that’s colorful to boot!

While I prefer the aesthetics of the previous sticks, these are functionally one of the best sets I’ve made so far.

Here is a brief video of them in action:

  1. Robyn says:

How weird that you chose red, white, and blue, and the news this morning is of Osama Bin Laden’s death and all the flag-flying, etc. going on. Not intentional, I’m sure, as I know you are as unlikely to celebrate any death– no matter whose it is– as I am.

I’m considering the significance of the color choice, however unintentional, to be a symbol of a wish for peace, not a celebration of death. Hope that’s OK.

    • w.c. pelon says:

what a bizarre coincidence, and i wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment: life we celebrate, death we mourn.

  2. Elizabeth Fox says:

Those are neat, I’m so glad you included a video too!

  3. Caron says:

These look so perfect. About how long from start to finish does it take to make these?

    • w.c. pelon says:

This set took about an hour or so, but it was a bit of a rushed job. If I take my time, a good quality set takes around 2 or 3 hours.

  4. Mike Piper says:

I still have the set you made me. We should get together and toss some sticks!
