Week 4 – Kenia Cris

Posted: April 23, 2011 in Kenia Cris, Week 04

A passing note

Boy with butterfly wings and the boat somewhere else

This week I used a few of the sleepless hours I’ve been collecting to work on something I thought a lot about, first driven by Betty’s third flying lesson, and then again, after writing this poem and having a reader leaving the following question on the comment form: ‘when is it easier to fly — when one is young or old?‘ If she knew me well, she would never have asked me such question (it will take me a year to stop thinking about it)!

The three collage pieces above compose ‘My study of flight’, which is obviously unfinished. *sigh*

  1. w.c. pelon says:

I love collage, and yours just keep getting better and better!

“Boredom” is my favorite that you’ve done so far. I would love to have it hanging in my living room– if you ever make prints, maybe we could do an art trade?

I think Betty has a knack for inspiring us all, and while the geekz have been influenced by one another since the first TGAP, it seems the sense of community is strongest this time around.

  2. Kenia Cris says:

William! Thanks for your encouragement! I’m glad to hear you like it. It was thanks to you I started TGAP, and if it wasn’t for the project, I wouldn’t be into collage.

It’s a month now I’ve been using Photoshop, in a year I hope to have improved my collage skills considerably!

I’ll be glad to make a print of ‘Boredom’ and send it to you. I’ll let you know as soon as I have it printed, so you let me know where to mail it (I’ve never had anything printed but I guess it’s not that difficult to find the service).

Kisses to you and the family.

  3. Be says:

Yes it’s all about inspiration! And to see what isn’t there but still is right in front of our eyes as soon as someone points in the right direction….so obvious.
Love Boredom too but probably feel more for Butterfly Boy and his(?) boat.

Glad to be of help if that is what I was. I get constantly inspired by all of the creativity in here and somehow greatful that I don’t need to do it all. Just enjoy it!

  4. Mike Piper says:

I did 3 collages this weekend because of your examples. I will post them at some point. I also did 14 other drawings! AHHHHH! What’s happening to me! : )

  5. Kenia Cris says:

Betty, thanks for stopping by and leaving such a sweet and encouraging comment. I love your flying lessons. =)

Mike! I so want to see your collages and new drawings! I’m so happy to hear you’re feeling inspired. I like your robots a lot. I love science fiction and they always connect me to things I’ve read and seen somewhere. Thanks for watching me. =*
